PS5 “No Signal” on HDMI? What It Means and How It’s Fixed

It is a familiar sinking feeling: the PS5 fans spin up, the light comes on, but the TV stubbornly reads "no signal". Before you assume the worst, here is what is usually going on.

First, rule out the easy stuff

• Try a different HDMI cable — they fail more often than you would think.
• Try a different HDMI port on the TV, and another device in the PS5's port to confirm the TV input works.
• Make sure the TV is on the correct input source.

If another device works on that TV input but the PS5 gives nothing on any cable or port, the problem is almost certainly inside the console.

The usual culprit: a damaged HDMI port

The PS5's HDMI port is soldered to the board. A knock to a plugged-in cable, or years of plugging and unplugging, can bend the port's pins or crack the solder joints. When that happens, the console cannot output a picture even though it is running normally.

Is it fixable? Usually, yes

An HDMI port replacement is a precise, board-level repair: the damaged port is removed and a new one soldered in its place. It is skilled work, but for most consoles it is very fixable and far cheaper than replacing the whole machine.

What about "no power" or beeping then off?

Those are different faults (often power supply or thermal related) and need a diagnostic to pin down. If your PS5 will not power on at all, that is not an HDMI issue.
